One of the problems that we face as we get older, is that we become a little less steady on our feet. Therefore it is important to have a secure safe environment in order to assist fall prevention. This can take a number of forms. One of the biggest times this can be an issue is at night when the patients or family members that you are caring for are in bed – but get up in the night for one reason or another.
One of the best fall protection techniques, is to buy patient monitoring equipment. As the name suggests this helps you to keep tabs on those in your care in order to make sure that they are not in any danger of falling and causing harm to themselves. These products can be wired or wireless, meaning that you have a range of options.
Types Of Fall Prevention Equipment
There are a number of different types of fall prevention equipment, some of these include:
- Ramblegard Floor Monitoring System –this is ideal for those who maybe suffering from conditions such as Alzheimer’s or dementia. In terms of their well being it is good for them to continue to have a little freedom and movement in their own space. This floor pad works by triggering an alarm when someone stands on it, so that a carer could be alerted when the patient is up and about. Ideally placed near the bed, in a doorway or near stairs.
- Ramblegard Chair Monitoring System – designed to monitor patients safely while they are seated, this device alerts those involved in caring when the patient is about to get out of their chair. This can be used as a standalone product or be incorporated into existing monitoring systems
- Ramblegard Bed Monitoring System – similar to the chair monitoring system, but for a bed, this monitoring device alerts those caring for a patient when that patient is about to get up. They can be placed either at shoulder height for alerting when the patient starts to get up, or at waist height to alert when they leave.
